Abstract - How might we better structure, if at all, the way in which we direct anyone else to do something? Considering that most humans are ambiguous and often believe in their insular world, that people know what they do and regard as `normal', could we make incoherent persons of varying intelligence, more understandable through a unified means of facilitating them to structure all forms of direction of a technical set of tasks, or anything they are trying to communicate? Could we do this without relying on an over-sized team, a ranting mouth on legs and over-spending by Government and investors?

Mr.Mullins Who Gets Lost in Supermarkets

Re: Disorganised fictional `Mr.Mullins' (EXEcutable example file) in 1988, used in a class of students by 1999 and amateur video recordings, copies of which were stolen from a specific premises in 1988/89 and passed on by one other, unlawfully. Information about illegal copies of the amateur video sequences - including unedited out-take sequences or re-edited out-takes or sequences - is welcoming on-going. Mullins was one of a small number of concepts which led to devising of three small separate comedy series of six segments each, `shelved' before any presentation to any production company, as far back as the 1990s, after the intervention of yet more people with more problems. Rehearsal, finished and out-take material may have turned up on a domestic video tape format somewhere, before even perhaps being digitally pirated subsequently. Any office employees accessing the recordings during that period, are welcome to make contact. Some of the locations of recording were accessed through payment made to a self-claimed insurance company representative.

Next update of RIBS is scheduled for 2015. Further development of this project was delayed by over 40 alleged criminals. Proceeds from licencing of RIBs, gained via electronic payments (including several accepted common banking card facilities and services) can be ploughed back into the registered trade behind this web site.

APEVIEW 5mb approx - a document browser and `freeware' in this version - can be used to view any PDF files offered in future through at least this page. Updated periodically with help files and additional features.

RIBS ELICIT V2.1 executable is tested and provides the forms and model (and sound test!) in one downloadable EXEcutable file, to be available for a few pence for use in a company's internal quality control system. More...

The on line activation system was tested on a standalone laptop, with a reformatted hard drive, partitioned then added to with licensed operating system and software.

RIBs as a structure, should now at least cap the problem of disjointed and misleading product instructions for everything from toasters right through to advising how to overcome obsessive, militant, ranting relatives, or people who interrogate you in cars and cause you to drop hardware and set you back months, before whinging about the rising price of electricity. So there's no excuse for anyone ever approaching the author at least with any instructions which are disjointed and read as having no purpose. So if you think the author is living in "cloud cuckoo land"(quote), then kindly find yourself something more constructive to do.

Development of RIBS was stalled by over 40 alleged `Soviet Jews'.

What RIBs in TDR is For

The R.I.Bs methodology was devised by Peter Trapani between 1992 and 1996 for developing, structuring and maintaining TDR. It may be developed further by associates into the future.

The aim was to remove the lack of structure and incoherence in everything from instructional texts, through to any form of technically orientated presentation direction or explanation or `guide'.

The means by which this aim was achieved was design of a Common Structured Framework(CSF) or `top level' `Overview' model. The model was put together so that practically, both novice or more experienced technical authors or creative/technical directors of multi-media presentations could down-size some of the often unnecessarily large and often costly technical authoring teams used in a set of world-wide organisations, whilst providing a flexible framework for developing relevant TDR implemented using multi-media.

Pete had experienced oversized technical authoring teams in some of his less enjoyable `other work' between 1995 and 1996, including some areas of computer information systems support for health care services. The problems hadn't so much been too many managers, as too many `left hands' not coordinating with the `right hands' across the entire system, at least as Peter saw it.

RIBs has the advantage of fitting into the Project Life Cycle and forcing the question as to why anything is being taught or demonstrated and why anyone is being instructed in any situation which can be reflected on or `measured' as sucessfully completed or otherwise. The `skeleton framework' guides both author and user in optimising TDR within a Quality Management System(QMS), supporting operational, strategic and tactical review procedures of an organisation.

Demonstration of the RIBS `Skeleton' Framework By Example

RIBs sample forms and software `bolt ons' will likely follow over time. Version updates and additional product bolt-ons, will be indexed through this page.

Exemption Policy for Child-supporting Charities Whose Directors are "Poor"

The R.I.B.s Overview document is free to place on the business computer system of any charity improving the welfare of children. These charities, if unable to afford a few pence currently set, may email Peter direct if they wish, explaining that they are `very poor' and can't afford that amount, or alternatively one of their directors could always take it out of their own salary and stop whinging.

Business tutors of information systems wishing to tutor in RIBs, self employed, may make contact to negotiate terms pending future formalised management. If the interest increases (there were four who made contact in 2010/11), the opportunity can be revisited with more attention. At present however, the main focus is the above facilitation of companies wishing to make the RIBs `skeleton structure' central to their way of going about the business of TDR within a QMS, for easier quality review within the Project Life Cycle(PLC).

TDR is defined within a set of sealed documents put together during development of the RIBs solution to initially, technical authoring projects which lacked uniformity of structure and presentation.

The term T.D.R. is merely used within the copyright documentation for RIBs, which defined it for practical application of the RIBs structure and clarity of reference.

TDR will always consist of a set (one or many) of copyright works and may be called other things within organisations.

TDR does not merely refer to a text-based, hand-held instruction manual. Technically authored paper documents containing mostly textual content, slide shows and simulations, are all examples of TDR. Each will contain a set of media.

1. Click on any additional made available for the offered program through the product description, and read them. Agree to abide to the terms else don't proceed. The terms made be included in the product description alone.

2. Select and `grab' the `locked' Program using the button.

3. To purchase, get your payment information ready, then use the button to purchase the number of activations following that button.

4. To then use the Program: On download of the zipped or standalone exe-cutable Program using the on-screen button, and transfering payment for your licence and key via the on-screen button, `on' or `off' line, do the following:

- (a) Check your email.

- (b) `Cut and paste' or write down your personal key as supplied, in the way best suited for you. Once text or your code is block-selected, keys [CTRL]+[C] copy the blocked characters to the computer's `clipboard'. Pressing keys [CTRL]+[V] `pastes' those same selected and copied characters to where you want them, e.g. your own private pass-coded word processor document (which is also a database by definition). You may wish to use your licence `key' to re-activate later, e.g. if you needed to re-install your computer system, or on query of licence. Keeping a record of the payment is also advised. You can print a screen detail for a transaction.

- (c) `Unzip' if necessary, then run your downloaded Program.

-(d) Follow the Program's provided direction to enter your purchased key. Please note: This will in many cases require you to be `on line'. Activation may `hardware lock' your copy of the downloaded Program, to assist with minimising many forms of piracy.

- (e) Re-run the Program.

5. Please note: `Activation' doesn't in this context mean that you have to register on-line each time you use a copy of provided software. It can mean you sometimes need to register on line initially in order to operate the intended program e.g. music and-or video, if you download an electronically purchased copy of the software to a new or updated personal computer system or compatible hardware device. Change a unique part of your hardware, e.g. a disk drive or CPU, and the software may if designed to, recognise this. This is why several activations are sometimes reasonably accorded a licensed user and denoted in the product description. Sometimes, `freeware' software is specified, and can be downloaded and activated without purchase of a key, e.g. for information purposes.

RIBS Exemption of license fee

Re: Non-profit organisations, domestic and charity users.

If the End User is any of the above and / or registered as an organisation in a democratic state, the use of RIBS terminology `openly' and equivalent forms, practices and processes, within your organisation's working operations is permitted. The moral rights of the copyright owner still reside under copyright law.

Over time, a charity or domestic user may be able to obtain equivalent documentation and supporting models and more through this site, in the same way through activation, yet without paying a fee, on grounds that a charity registers its address when paying on-line. This raises Data Protection registration issues for this registered trade, which first need to be clarified through the Information Commissioner. For the time being, fee-exempt end users of RIBS in the above categories, will just need to find one business which has purchased the tool and encourage them to provide an overview of RIBS for you. Who knows, they may even provide some money for your charity at the same time! Alternatively, if you can't find a business willing to pass on the ideas behind RIBS, to your charity, you can buy the cheap-costing tool and licence as if you were a profit-making business. Word gets around if it's useful, and although the Author isn't a Socialist, this seems to the Author, the fairest means of sale and distribution.

RIBS ELICIT V2.1 for Windows (1st public RIBS release).

(i) A lifetime business license (see below); and (ii) 3 activations of RIBS ELICIT software.

1. Cost: 1.00. Price is subject to occasional minor adjustment due to variation in some international money exchange rates and payment processing percentages. Due to the low cost and stated aims of RIBs and some organised attempts to prevent a wider range of commercial activities operating through this site, payment is NOT refundable. If doubtful, find a licensed or domestic or charity RIBS user.

2. Product Description

(a) Features:

  • Forms and information facilitating the RIBS method of structuring and eliciting technical direction representations for the creation of builds of procedural or directional information systems, e.g. an instructive help system or user manual or a product instruction pamphlet.
  • Licence to: (a) use this purchased, authorised RIBS software tool including the contained model and way of working (process) and all RIBS terminology, supplied stationary and additional information documentation, within a business; (b) store the downloaded EXEcutable file centrally on the End User's business computer system;
  • (c) Lifetime's use of RIBS terminology, models/method, within the End User business.
  • Demonstration of an encoded 96kHz sound file, plus Snoodlepop desktop technical reminder.
  • (b) Minimum Hardware Specificiation Used to Test the Program:

  • Personal Computer (PC) with licensed operating system capable of running Windows-based executable applications; installed video-audio player software and any sound reproduction equipment which you may choose to `bolt on' or connect to your sound playing hardware (or installed sound card) through `line out' stereo and-or surround sound auxilliary connections.
  • Available Physical Memory of 750 MB
  • Total Virtual Memory of 2.00 GB
  • Available Virtual Memory 1.96GB
  • Visual Display (VD) equal or greater than 600x756 pixels.

The above specification is included, simply because when the software was first tested, this was the specification of the computer system in the kitchen. Lower specifications may work. If wishing to try a `lower specification' to operate said record(s) promoted through this site, why not simply convince a friend to try one for a few pence on a lower specification of machine, and then several people will know how much of an antiquated specification you can get away with?

Although these systems cannot be `tested to destruction', every effort is made to test the materials offered through this site, on a range of PC brands and `builds' through a development `Life Cycle'.

    3. Restrictions:
    (a) Three (3) activations of the RIBS ELICIT V2.1 software tool.
